Presentations going well

Yesterday, January 10 was full and fun.
Spending a day with many of the children from College Street Elementary School in Smithville was a delight. They giggled and chuckled over the cute images of elephant seals and penguin chicks and marveled over the size of Arnie knowing that he was life-size. They stretched their petite arms out wide as they worked out how many children it took to make up the wing-span of the Wanderer.
The older kids amazed me with their perception about whether my solo kayak attempt of South Georgia was a failure or success. They thoughtfully expressed their opinion saying things like -
"You set out and tried Miss Shephard, that can only be successful" and "I'm proud of you Miss Shephard" . Wow, those comments blew my socks off! How wise of them.

Dean and I departed Smithville with our next destination being Toronto. We were slightly nervous about heading in to the BIG, GIANT city but on the map our route seemed fairly straight forward. And it was.
We met up with the Toronto Ornithological Club at the Frog n Firken for a quick bite to eat before heading to the Burgundy Room in the North York Memorial Hall. Arnie was carried by his beak to the room, joining us for his 3rd presentation this day.

The club members were a fun audience and challenged me a little as we nearly got in debate about how many Albatross species there are. I was chuffed (very pleased) to see a few familiar faces, folks I have traveled with and worked with in the Antarctic. Our wonderful world shrinks in size daily.
Another presentation well-received and looking forward to the next.

Please note: Photos will be posted soon as well as the Event Calender which is currently being revised.
Thanks for your interest folks and look forward to keeping you regularly posted. Cheers Hayley
