Happy NewYear! Wow, 2010 is over. Last year I kayaked South Georgia - it seems as though I just got back. Perhaps it is the fact that I am re-living it as I do my presentations, hmmmm and perhaps it is because I live with a wooden, beautifully carved life-sized Wandering Albatross :)
What will the new year bring? I hope for everybody it brings - fun, adventure, peace, happiness, love, goodwill, new horizons and daring endeavors.
What is in the cards for me?
- Katie Mustard (my producer) has just returned from presenting the Kayaking to Save the Albatross story to an audience of 600 people in Telluride on Dec 26th for the Telluride Mountain Films Grant.
-By Feb 1st we will have a trailer for the documentary and......
-By spring the documentary will be ready - thanks to Ivan Hughes with http://www.fringefilmworks.com/ and the mountain film grant.
-Sea kayaker magazine Jan-Feb 2011 edition (already on the shelves) has my article - A Journey of Perseverance. If you get a chance to read this, let me know what you think.
-By spring the book will be well and truely underway with support from my publisher Bayeux Art
-And with up and coming presentations in Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, Victoria, Courtenay and a few other destinations, I hope that my raising awareness for the Plight of the Albatross will continue to reach other destinations and more people.
And in the near future, such as tomorrow, Dean, Win and myself will embark on yet another Christmas bird count in the Port Colbourne area, an hours drive from where we are in Niagara-on-the-lake. Who knows what feathered friends will we encounter once tomorrow is done.
Enjoy the freshness of this new year and I wish you all the very best.
Hayley
